Charles Wayne Henry passed away at home with his family by his side on Friday, March 26 at the age of 70. He will be forever missed by his wife of 47 years, Jill (nee Curtis), son Lee (Brooke Robertson) and daughter Lori (Justin Keba). He was the best Grampa/Pop to Camden, Shayla, Hayden, Ryan and Cullen. Wayne was predeceased by his sister Kathryn and her husband Walter Kreppner. He will be greatly missed by his siblings Paul (Deanna) and Jane Henry. Wayne was well loved by Jill’s family: Marilyn (the late Sandy) Sandstrom, the late Rosemary (Jim) Thomas, Howard (Jackie) Curtis, Jackie (Warren) Jackson and Christine (Peter) Doner. He was adored by many nieces, nephews, extended family, good friends and golf buddies.
Wayne was born in Brantford on July 3, 1950 to Jim and Mary (Morwick) Henry. He spent his early childhood in Lynden and then moved to Thornhill where he attended Thornhill Secondary School. In 1977, Wayne and Jill moved to the house they built near Tottenham and soon after he started his own HVAC company, York Simcoe Refrigeration.
Wayne spent most of his life involved in sports. He played baseball, hockey, curling and golf and coached Lee’s baseball and hockey teams. In recent years he spent much of his free time in the stands watching his grandkid’s activities. He was always their #1 fan.
Wayne was always content spending hours on his tractor cutting the grass, tending to his vegetable garden, working in his shop and teaching his grandkids how to make and fix things. He also enjoyed travelling, including his annual golf trip to Arizona. His time in Holland, Ireland and the Caribbean were among his favourite vacations.
We would like to send our sincere thanks to Barb and Dr. Nishikawa for the compassion and care they provided while Wayne was at home.

On his last birthday I remember calling him an ‘old fart’, as he had turned 70. Now that he has gone, I realize just how young he was. His constant good humor is now history. Thankfully our memories of him will last beyond my lifetime. Our kids share a special affinity with Unc. For Wayne’s family we send support and condolences. So sorry and very saddened to learn of Wayne’s passing. He has been a good friend for many, many, years going back to our softball years in the 60’s. When he started his business he did all of his printing and advertising with my company Simcoe-York Printing and I never had anyone else look at my heating and air conditioning for my building in Beeton. Be strong and cherish your memories.
