van Gent: Cornelis “Casey”,
Suddenly on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby, Cornelis “Casey” van Gent passed away at the age of 56 years. Beloved father of daughters Cornelia and Cassandra van Gent; grandfather of Janoah. Loving partner of Adele Forsberg. Dear son of Cornelia (and the late Jan) Vermunt and Cornelis van Gent. Fondly remembered by his sisters, Ella and Jeannie van Gent. Forever in the hearts of Yvette Muir, his extended family locally and abroad in Holland, as well as friends. Sadly missed by his furry best friend, Bentley.
He was a recently retired Engineer for Canadian Pacific Railway after 30 years of service. Casey will always be remembered as entertaining with his joking nature, his passion and talent for music and guitars, as well as his love for motorcycles. Casey was always entertaining and pranking his loved ones. He will be remembered for his ability to investigate with his “international personalities,” while smothering us with an abundance of love, generosity, and selfless nature.
Wishing you a peaceful journey. Tot ziens–until we meet again. “10-4. OVER”.
As per Cornelis’s wishes, cremation is taking place and a private family service is being held on Thursday, June 15, 2017. Arrangements entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home in Tottenham. www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com
Ella, your sister says
It’s been 9 months since you left your body and i am missing your crazy antics and serious talks. Thinking of you brother, you are missing from me. <3
Jeannie van Gent says
My dear baby brother, I remember the day you were born and I stood on tip toes and leaned into your basinette to place a kiss on your cheek. That is how we started our life as brother and sister and that is also how we ended. I hold many dear memories in my heart of you playing guitar, cruising in your ‘cuda’ etc. I look forward to seeing you again. “Knock, knock, knock on Heaven’s Door” Casey and may Heaven’s door be opened to embrace you with the Light of God’s Love and Peace. I love you!
Rest in Peace dear brother xoxoxo

Ome Kees, Tante Corrie, Ella en Gina, children, family and friends of Casey, I wish you all the strength on Casey’s passing. He was such a lovely boy, back then, when he still lived in Holland. He must have been a lovely person to live and be friends with later on in Canada, my thoughts are with you.

Casey, you were that rare person that could enter a room full of strangers, and within minutes, half the people would be choking with laughter! Your humanity always humbled me when we had serious talks. Casey, Cees,
Geboren in Ameide in 1961.

A great guy to work with, taken much too early. Could always make a room come to life with his humour. May you rest in peace and may all your signals be clear!

Casey even though many years have passed a piece of my heart has gone with you and I did shed a tear for you. I will always be glad I met you and shared a bond with the child we had together. You have been taken way to soon and to young. Stay on the “Stairway To Heaven” (Our Song) and I know you will reach it. Cathy
