Coleman: Blanche “Kid”
‘Kid’ passed away peacefully on February 14, 2018 at Simcoe Manor in Beeton, Ontario. She was the beloved daughter of the late William John Coleman originally from Wellington, ON and the late Lillian Blanche Coleman from Sault Ste. Marie, ON. She was predeceased by her brother William ‘Carl’ and her sisters Inez and Essie. Kid was born in Hearst, ON she was fragile at birth and was not expected to live. She grew up on the family farm with her parents, and later remembered picking turnips in the fields. She enjoyed reciting poetry and continued to do so until her final days. She enjoyed ‘Coca Cola’ in a glass bottle and ‘big white chips’. Kid came to live at the Manor in 2004 after living in an institution for many years. She spent the last 14 years of her life surrounded by the loving staff from Simcoe Manor taking care of her and giving her all the ‘motherly love’ she continued to need in her life. Ironically she chose Valentine’s Day because she knew how much she was loved. God Bless her little heart and soul. Our ‘Kid’ was one of a kind and we all loved her.
A memorial service will be held at Simcoe Manor, 5988 8th Line, Beeton, ON on March 7, 2018 in celebration of what would have been her 97th birthday from 1-4pm in the auditorium. Arrangements entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home, www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com

Kid loved ice cream cones. She always asked for yellow, or pink, or brown, even though it was usually vanilla that I served. I would scoop one and give it to her, and she would then give me a very hearty hug.I will miss her on my ice cream day rounds. RIP Kid….may you now enjoy all your favorite flavors.

Kid was a very special person who had her own way of living her life. She loved KFC, Coca Cola, kitty cats and dogs and magazines. She had her favourite nurses and staff. Kid had a way of touching your heart and leaving a small piece of her with you.
I loved her hugs. From her night nurse. Janice
