
Broome: Kent Willard John,
Surrounded by music and his entire family, Kent passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Matthews House Hospice in Alliston. Kent, in his 77th year, loving husband of Rita (nee Donnelly) for 53 years. Dear father of Anita (Dave), Corina (Dave), Jacinda (Chad) and Quentin (Tina). Proud and doting Poppa to Brooklyn (Nate), Victoria (Mark), Katelyn, Ben, Lily, Bridget, Ronan, Aidan, and Quinn. Sadly missed by his sister Grace. Predeceased by his brother Grant, his sister Glenda, and his granddaughter Maggie. Missed and always remembered by his extended family and friends. Kent had a great love of music and lived in the area his entire life. The family will receive friends at Rod Abrams Funeral Home on Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 2-4pm and 6-8 pm, and Friday, October 4, 2019 from 12pm until time of Service in the chapel at 2pm. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery, Colgan. Memorial donations in Kent’s memory may be made to Matthews House Hospice or Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program.

Kent was a great guy. I met him when I was dating my wife Melany Bayley. Kent had a deeply rooted love of music and I always enjoyed talking to him about music. I met Kent through the Tottenham bluegrass jam about 3 year and a half years ago. You knew it would be an extra special night if Kent was there – and he was there often!
