OSTROWSKI: Jozef “Joseph”
Peacefully on Saturday July 15, 2023, at the age of 78 years at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. Beloved husband of Jadwiga Ostrowski (nee: Popielarska) of 57 years of marriage. Loving father (Tata) of Joanne, Bob (Melanie), and Ola (John). Beloved grandfather (Dziadzia) of Margaret, Aidan, Eryk, Andrew, Brielle and Olivia. Sadly missed by his siblings Victoria (John), Frank, Antoni (Maria) and Sophie (Roman). Reunited in heaven with his parents Adam and Maria Ostrowski. Forever in the hearts of all his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Joe was born in Poland on January 2, 1945. He immigrated to Toronto with his family when he was 19 for a better life. To do this he needed a partner. Joe married the love of his life, Jadwiga, on July 9, 1966, a love that continued for just over 57 years. Together they built a family. They moved to Tottenham from Toronto in 1977 to build a home together. Joe was a hard-working man, rarely missing a day of work. He was an electrician by trade and would do this by day, only to come home and continue working on the house and the property that surrounded it. Joe loved working in his carpentry shop, tending to their vegetable garden, raising chickens and beekeeping. He loved being outdoors.
Joe was devoted to the Catholic church and his community. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus for many years and would often be found volunteering his time to them. He moved up the ranks to become Grand Knight of his council. Joe was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects or anything people needed him for. In more recent years, he had the opportunity to watch his six grandchildren grow and wholeheartedly love his family. Joseph will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, 1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham, 905-936-3477 with visitation on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. Rosary Prayers will take place at 7:00pm in the chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, in St. James Catholic Church, Colgan, 2118 Adjala Tecumseth Townline at 11am, followed by interment in St. James Cemetery, Colgan and reception will follow. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Diabetes Canada in Joe’s memory would be appreciated by the family. My deepest condolences to the entire Ostrowski Family. I didn’t know Joe but my fellow Knights of Council 4120 were quite fond of Joe and the work he did in leading our council.
He will be greatly missed.
