Memories of John John pop into my mind from time to time. This time I Googled the name and was shocked to find this obituary. Had I have known at the time I would have made the trip to pay my respects.
All the neighbour kids around my age that I had to play with are now gone. Diane Gaetz, Stephen Duke and now John John Forbes.
We had a lot of fun times as kids. The camping and fishing trips. You catching the walleye then it catching you with a treble hook and having to go to the hospital to get it taken out. The skidooing and mini biking. All the sleepovers, birthday parties, playing your Atari then later your Commodore 64. All the times spent playing in your tree house and pond.
Dressing up in our snowmobile suits in the heat of summer, running through the woods hunting and shooting each other with pellet guns. The trip to Darian Lake. You accidentaly shooting my brother Matthew in the head with a pellet gun when he lifted his head at the wrong moment. I could go on and on.
I didn’t get to know you into adulthood as I moved away at 15 years old. I only got to see you once more at Diane’s funeral.
I’m very sad to know that you aren’t out there anymore and that the memories we shared are now mine alone.
Rest in peace my old friend.

I knew John when he was a little boy. We all called him John John. My son Morgan had John in his Sunday School class at the United Church on the corner of the 10th line and the 2nd concession.
His parents Carol and John Sr were great neighbors.Carol made the best fudge and shared it with everyone. My condolences to his wife Kathleen. God be with you.
