Schoepe: Erich
After a life well lived, Erich passed away after a brief illness on July 21, 2021 at the age of 95. Born on March 2, 1926 in Waldenberg, Silesia, Germany, Erich immigrated to Canada in 1957 with his wife Alice Walter (1932 – 2014). He was fortunate to be able to live in his first house bought in Cliffside, Scarborough in 1963 until last October. A quiet, very proud and independant man, who was blessed with incredible health, who was in fact still riding his bike and climbing the ladder to the roof in the last few years. An amazing and supportive father, Erich leaves behind his daughter Marianne Sheldrake. Much loved father-in-law to David Sheldrake and such a proud and honoured Opa to grandsons Daniel and Matthew. He also leaves behind nieces in Germany and Florida. Always remembered ~”Ja, I will make a mental note”, he will live on in our hearts.
Special thanks to Pamela Hull and Cal Marengeur for their caring assistance for the last several months as well as the incredible staff and volunteers at Matthews House Hospice, who all made such a difference in our lives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Matthews House Hospice or an animal welfare organization of your choice. Cremation entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home, Tottenham, 905-936-3477. A private service will be held at a later date. www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com
