To my sister Wynne:
Although you will continue to miss Rollie every second of every single day, and the pain is overwhelming, I know that Rollie is EVERYWHERE you are…He hears you, he sees you, and he feels your love daily.
Perhaps in some small measure this poem will help to lift your heavy heart…
To my dearest family, some things I’d like to say,
But first of all to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I’m writing this from Heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there’s no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I’m out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and said, “I welcome you.
It’s good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they’ll be here later on.
There is so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.”
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch over and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the days chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you…In the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years,
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: It does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you, all that God had planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn’t understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o’er,
I’m closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I’d like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who’s in sorrow and in pain;
Then you can say to God at night…”My day was not in vain.”
And now I am contented…That my life was worthwhile,
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you’re walking down the street and you’ve got me on your mind;
And when it’s time for you to go…from that body to be free,
Remember you’re not going…You’re coming here to Me.

May God’s blessings shine on you now in your time of need. You were always Rollie’s reliable earth angel, now let him be yours and watch over and care for you.
Sonny Mifsud says
Let us all continue Rollie’s legacy to leave some beautiful memories in peoples hearts with our actions, kind words and thoughtful gestures, because Rollie has shown us in his short lifetime that “memories” are all that’s left of us when we are gone…
To Rollie, the only son I’ve ever known, I leave this heartfelt poem:
Loving Memories of a Special Stepson
To lose someone so special
is really hard to bear,
it hardly seems believable
that you’re no longer there.
You left us far too early
before your time, it seems,
and now you’ll never have a chance
to fulfil all those dreams.
However hard it is though
we’ll take comfort in the thought,
of all the memories we have
and the happiness you brought.
You always lived life to the full
but ours won’t be the same,
until the day when we can see
your smiling face again.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Rollie’s passing.
Sometimes having someone to talk openly about our emotions is key for us to deal with the complexities of life. More importantly, it’s essential that we take the time to listen, support and help one another during these difficult times. Rollie taught me that. Rollie taught me that we have a responsibility to not only help, but to offer love and kindness to someone in their time of need. Rollie was MY someone. I will be forever grateful for his friendship, love and kindness when I needed it most.
Rest In Peace dear friend.

My Dear Wynne,
I only just found out this very sad news and I cannot begin to tell you how very sorry I am for you and all your dear family! Sadly I know only too well what you are going through and my heart aches beyond measure for you! I pray that your very special memories will help you through this dreadful time and with Gods help you will get through it! Rollie was someone very special and will be forever remembered in the hearts of all those who loved him so dearly. Rest In Peace dear Rollie.
Brian says
“Friends are pillars on your porch. Sometimes they hold you up, sometimes they lean on you, and sometimes it’s just enough to know that they are standing by.”
I always knew, Rollie was “standing by” to lend a helping hand or offer some genuine words of support, whenever he thought I needed it.
He was a really, really nice guy.
Jack and Zarina Johnston says
“Rollie” was a very good friend and neighbour. He was always polite and ready to help in any way you needed him. He will be missed and he will be remembered.
Wynne Ericson says
A Special Note of Thanks:
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for all the telephone calls, cards, live plants, beautiful floral tributes and food, that everyone has shared with me these past several days, and especially for opening your hearts and sharing your condolences, and personal memories of my son Rollie. I will forever be grateful for the strength and healing each one of your kind gestures, and stories have provided.
Thank you to those of you that slipped little trinkets into Rollie’s casket: notes, letters, cards, photographs, CD’s, guitar picks, etc… ‘memories’ to warm his heart and share with his new family, in his new home.
Thank you to everyone who came back to the house to celebrate his life, toast his memory, and share the two things Rollie was truly good at—offering love and support to one another! Like an “Irish wake”, it was perfect.
I would also like to thank my sister Jacquie for her organizational skills, eulogy, picking the flower arrangements for family near and far and helping with the difficult task of choosing a cemetery plot, but most of all, for her support and strength throughout the most difficult time in my life.
Thank you to my favorite brother in law Tony and loving nephew Leighton for the design and copies of the memorial poem offered to all the funeral attendees and most of all for your love, which I know is always just around the corner.
Thank you to my wonderful brother Tom and my favourite sister-in-law Lori for your ongoing love and support, and for ALL the delicious food provided for the wake afterwards. It practically fed an army!
Thank you to Paula and Micheal for the photo collages and beautiful photo slide show that captured the very spirit and essence of Rollie throughout his life and for organizing the perfect soundtrack that played in the background at the funeral.
Thank you to my long time spouse Sonny who has shared my tears, love and memories, throughout these hard days, for my “one in a million” son, who always had our backs, fixed our cars, laughed with us, cried with us, and supported us in the good times and the bad times—Always!
Thank you to Rod Abrams Funeral Home, for bringing everything together, and making one of the worst days of my life, a very sad, but ‘special’ memory.
Thank you to Father Nick for the Christian readings, songs, service and burial for Rollie at St. James Church in Colgan.
A ‘special’ thank you to my son’s “twelve“ pallbearers: Sonny Mifsud, Tony Costanzo, Leighton Costanzo, Tom Conlan, Scott Duncan, James Garbutt, Micheal Ericson, Steven Morrow, Nolin Morrow, Joshua Burns, Steve Farr, and Todd Postulart, who carried my son with love, honour and dignity. Rollie would have been pleased to see, so many old and familiar faces proud to ‘lift him up’, and carry him, one last time.
I would also like to acknowledge all of Rollie’s friends and mine, that travelled long distances to pay their last respects, shed their tears and share their stories and memories of my son Rollie with me.
It was like a tonic to my soul to learn just how many people loved my son, and how many people my son helped, made laugh, and supported in their own darkest hours throughout his lifetime. I hope Rollie knew, just how many lives he impacted, saved, and made better, just through knowing him. I hope he realized just how many people loved him more.
Thank you ALL again for coming together and contributing to Rollie’s funeral and memory in ways only friends and family that truly loved him could. You made my pain, a beautiful memory.
Rollie’s mum. xo

My deepest condolences to you Wynne, my dear sister in law, and to you, my brother Sonny, I am so sorry for your loss. I pray that you will find strength and peace in coping with this tragic loss.
I was honoured to have attended Rollie’s beautiful Christian funeral service. It was heartwarming to hear his family and friends speak of their love of Rollie and to share their wonderful memories of the kind and loving person that Rollie was.
The gathering at the home of Wynne and Sonny following the church service was simple and elegant. Everyone did an excellent job with the event and the funeral sandwiches were delicious. Rollie’s family and friends were pleasant and engaging and I enjoyed everyone’s company. Rollie was blessed to have such wonderful people in his life. I especially appreciated that the family offered that people could take from Rollie’s personal music CD collection for their own. I now have music that when I listen to, I will always and forever think of Rollie.
My condolences to everyone for the tragic loss of such a loving young man.

Wynne, Sonny and Family,
I am heart broken to hear of the loss of your son, father, brother, uncle, nephew.
The pain is enormous and it may feel like it will never go away. Work through each day, knowing that you are living each moment in tribute to Rollie. You have the opportunity to carry his memory with you in everything you do. He is not gone, but he is with you in a different way. You will always be reminded of him, and you will hold his memory dear. Find your strength in him to carry on. He would not want your lives diminished by his passing. Do him the honour of flourishing because he lived.
May you find strength from family and friends and those whose paths you may not have crossed yet.
Wishing you all swift healing, sweet dreams, fond memories.
Most sincerely,

Wynn and Sonny,
I would like to offer you and your family my deepest and most sincere condolences and may the soul of your son Rollie, Rest In Peace.
Tony Costanzo says
Dear Wynne and Sonny,
I can not even begin to imagine all that you both have lost or what you have endured these past few days. It has been difficult to observe you both suffer so much pain and grief for Rollie, your devoted son.
He was a good person. A good son. A good brother, dad, cousin and nephew. He was much too understanding to mind the careless hurts that no one really quiet intends, and he was much too perceptive and thoughtful himself to give anything but love. Rollie went out of his way to make lost souls feel more secure and hopeful, and happy people a little happier yet.
Over the years I have watched Rollie do so much for others, and never expect anything in return. He was everyone’s mechanic, plumber, electrician, carpenter, painter, roofer, landscaper, chef, computer technician, confidant, and friend. He was a master of all things and a loyal friend to many. Rollie was an intelligent man. He could have been ANYTHING he wanted to be in this world.
I remember taking the same computer programming course as Rollie, which was incredibly difficult and time consuming, Rollie “sailed” right through it with ease and went on the next level. I remember discovering (many times), Rollie’s long legs sticking out from under my car some mornings as he assessed and fixed the various problems. I remember whenever, I bought a new car, Rollie was always the first person to excitedly show up and check it over. I remember my son’s excitement when his “cool cousin” would pick him up from school, with Van Halen blasting on the radio.
I remember his aunt Jacquie calling Rollie to help walk her through how to fix various issues with her computer. Now she is a ’whiz’ and accredits all that she knows to Rollie. I remember a lot of things about Rollie, and anyone who knew him would. He genuinely cared about people, his friends and family.
A truly good soul in our family has passed on. May Rollie’s soul rest in eternal peace, and may God grant all his friends and loved ones the strength to endure this great pain.
“Cheers Rollie“…I hope you have found joy and comfort in your new home, and you are reunited with old friends and family that love you as much as we do!
Your help, love and laughter will be missed,
Tony, Jacquie and Leighton
Jacqueline Conlan says
Our Rollie:
Rollie was committed and connected to his family. He judged no one. He found fault in no one.
Love and family was more important to Rollie than money and success. And we know this because Rollie always had an abundance of love to give, and he never had a lot of money, because he always gave it away to someone he believed needed it more.
Amongst his personal possessions he had a file, with some old and cherished photos, a photograph of his sister Paula, his brother Micheal, his first nephew Nolan, his two sons Thomas and Matthew, his stepson Josh, his step father Sonny and his mum and dad—His “family”, and the sum of all he held dear to his heart…This was ”love”.
In one of our many conversations, when we would talk about anything and everything. I asked Rollie to define “love”. He paused for what seemed like an eternity, then without looking up from staring down at the ground he said, “It’s when you’re by yourself and alone, but you still wish the best for others, and especially your family”, then he turned to look at me, smiled and said, “That is love”.
So, if Rollie could speak to each of us one last time, I would speculate that he would say, “Love one another, because love matters. Don’t judge it. Don’t dismiss it. And don’t take it for granted. Because love lifts you up, it supports you, it encourages you, it gives you hope, because love heals all wounds and love is everlasting.
Rollie, may your soul rest in perfect peace…And for those of us left behind to mourn the great void Rollie has left behind, always remember, this earth is full of troubles, and heaven is full of peace…and LOVE.
Today, with a heavy heart I said goodbye to another ‘special’ nephew, gone from the family far too soon
*Rest In Peace Big Guy*
❤️Rollie’s Auntie Jacquie xo

There is only one Rollie. To know him is to have a funny story. He had the best laugh and a big heart. He loved his family and kept us all in his heart. One of my dearest memories is Rollie with my kids. He loved them like they were his own. Rollie, a 24 year old single guy, loved getting my infant son ready and taking him out. This week has been so hard, but every cloud has a silver lining. Rollie’s three children, are the silver lining. I see his heart, his smile, his music, and his jokes in his children and his nieces and nephews. Rollie will be forever loved and forever missed.

Tomorrow we say goodbye to Mike’s brother. This week has been a reflection on Rollie’s life, spent with family. Reminiscing, looking through photos, listening to music, sharing stories, meeting new family members, and being reunited with ones once again. I sadly never got to know Mike’s brother but I have seen how much love his family, brother, sister, partner and kids hold deeply in their heart. This week has been an eye opener on so many levels. Hold your loves ones close, love them with all you got, know that no matter how tough you have it someone else is fighting something beyond their control. Don’t underestimate the power of love. Rollie you are looking down smiling at how family has come together to celebrate your life.
You can rest now Rollie and know that peace is where you are. It is with a heavy heart that I say good bye to my brother in law, someone who impacted my husband’s life like no other. Thank you for being the brother he needed when you could. RIP Charles,”Rollie” Ericson Forever in our hearts. We love you! Mike, Christine, Tyler and Brett xoxo

The passing of my uncle Rollie delivers the utmost grief upon me.
The Rollie I knew and whose memory I cherish was a man whose character traits brought me much joy and laughter in my formative years; was a man whom spoiled my sister Genevieve and I with lavish gifts consisting of toys, timbits, and scenic trips back in forth from Barrie to Tottenham. Those distant memories are a sacred keep sake in my heart.
My condolences,

Rollie and I have been best friends for over 20 years. To say Im going to miss him is an under statement.
I could write a book about our relationship. I guess in particular i admired his sense of justice and fairness. He always gave people the benefit of the doubt upon meeting people for the first time.He always was there with a helping hand and he gave it freely.
He will always be in my thoughts and to ask myself what would Rollie do?
I will miss him forever.
Mike Ericson says
To my big brother. I know you know how much I looked up to you when we were growing up because I tried in every way to be like you…it was painfully obvious, from my tasseled leather coat (lol, I never could pull it off), to my fender guitar, music to my hockey number 9(Rollie’s number 6 upside down). The only thing he had to himself was his height! It is with the heaviest of hearts on the hardest day of my life that I try to say thank you for the laughs and for everyone to remember the guy with the bigger than life personality known as “Rollie”. Your little brother looking up to you always, Mike

We lost someone dear to our hearts this week. Rollie was a gift to the world and his legacy will never be forgotten by his friends and family. Memories of his life and laughter will never fade. I will carry his cheerfulness, comfort, and kindness in my heart forevermore. I feel truly blessed to have been a part of his life. I will miss him and all his friendly, lighthearted, funny, teasing, joking ways. He had a great sense of humour and always found a way to raise my spirits. I believe his divine purpose in this life was to be EVERYTHING to EVERYONE. Whatever you needed, whenever you needed it, Rollie was someone you could depend on. May his soul find eternal rest and blissful peace, and may the love that surrounds you both bring some comfort to you in the weeks and months ahead. Remember, you are not alone. We will get through this together. It is through times like this that we realize the special bond of love that exists between us as a family. Let me be your courage and let me be your strength.
