Wos: Joseph
Peacefully surrounded by his loving family, at Matthews House Hospice, Alliston, on Monday December 6th, 2021. Joe Wos, in his 81st year was a man his family relied on, a proud woodworker who loved to share his many stories. Joe leaves behind the love of his life Doreen (nee Gater). Loving father of Catherine (Brian Lavoie), Joseph (Lori), John (Angela), and Marie Houston. Cherished Judgie to Adrian (Sabrina), Matthew, Megan (Emelio), Malcolm, Brendan, William (Natalie), Leona (Mike), Allison (Matt) and Melissa (Alex). Missed by his great grandchildren Jason, Jonah, Joseph and Taytum. Fondly remembered by extended family and friends.
As we reflect on Joe, fondly known as Judgie or Judge, as the husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, we are all left with wonderful memories of his pride, dependability, ingenuity, and determination. He most of all took pride in his family and loved to spend as much time with them as possible, especially at the hockey arenas. He would beam with joy when sharing stories of what he and the great-grandchildren were recently up to. He also loved and took great pride in his property of 57 years, spending hours mowing his lawn and tending to his many gardens, his favourite being the roses. He was not a man who sat still long or ever left things not attended to. It got to be a family joke that if he had nothing better to do, you would find him digging a hole. Anyone that has ever had work done by Joe, especially carpentry, knows he took great pride in his work. He loved to talk about and show people the homes he had built over his career. We are honoured to have many pieces of his beautiful woodwork. Joe also loved going on road trips, and nothing made him happier than to go camping and boating with his family and friends. He loved talking to people and making them laugh, leaving us with the memories of his many antics. We could always depend on him to be there when we needed him, even if it was late at night or several hours away. We admired his ingenuity and ability to make or fix just about everything. Last but not least was his determination which he demonstrated in so many aspects of his life, the most being the willpower he showed to walk again after his incomplete spinal cord injury. His qualities of pride, dependability, ingenuity, and determination will leave a lasting legacy for our family, which we will try to keep incorporating these attributes into our lives in his memory and honour.
Respecting Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, 1666 Tottenham Road, Tottenham, 905-936-3477 at a later date and time when we can safely gather in large groups. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory to Matthews House Hospice would be appreciated by the family. www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com

Joe Joe was such a great man. From teaching me to love dill pickles from a young age. I am still the only one who really likes dill pickles in my family. He was always there for anyone who needed him. He loved camping, boating and being with his family especially his grandkids and great grandkids. Joe Joe you will be missed by your family but also many friends young and old. It was a treasure to be able to know you all my life. Thoughts and prayers are with all your family.

To Our Dear Friend Joe,
We are left saddened and heartbroken by your passing. We offer our sincere condolences to Doreen and your family.
Joe, you were like family to us and an invaluable friend. You were Wally’s right hand and partner for over 40 years. It was a pleasure to see you pull up in your truck each workday singing a familiar tune. What you accomplished in your work will go on forever.
Your loyal support with all things around our house, particularly in recent years, will always be appreciated and remembered. For any job, big or small, inside or outdoors, you were always there ready to lend a hand. We knew we could always count on you for sound advice or a friendly joke.
Now we pray that God grants you a well-deserved rest and Saint Peter opens the door for you.
Farewell old friend,
The Jop Family

We met Joe when he was part of the building team for our new house 45 years ago. He & Doreen inter-twined in our lives immediately by not only being our carpenter friend that we could rely on to fix just about anything but our babysitters for all 3 of our daughters. But it didn’t stop there. We went on trips & off to concerts with them as well as dinners out or card nights in.Their children & our children have continued the great friendship that started so long ago and we will definitely miss our “Joe Joe” as our kids kindly referred to him. RIP dear friend, you have walked a hard and long life & deserve to rest & be painfree. Missyou already…Lee & Tim Doyle

Sending Doreen & family our deepest and sincerest condolences. Joe was an incredible great grandpa to our boys. He showed all of us what it meant to “show up” for the kids and his shoes will never be filled. His devotion and love for his family was always his top priority. I am truly thankful my family had him in their lives. I will miss seeing him at Jason’s hockey games, birthday celebrations and Christmas dinners. Please know you are all in our thoughts & prayers.
Judge will always remain in our hearts and memories. Knowing him was our pleasure.
Much love,
Ann, Brian & Brianna Mabee
