I just stumbled across this notice and am mad at myself that we let life get in the way and fail to stay connected with those had a huge impact on your life.
John and Tina to me are larger than life … they came into my life when i needed them most … they helped me build character and create a work ethic that I cherish to this day.
My first day at the frm i was assigned to clean a box stall … i swear it was filled with manure 10 feet tall (well it seemed that high) … JOhn quickly reminded me if you can figure out how to get through the tough and hard work quickly it will allow you more time to enjoy the stuff that you like doing … I live that reminder still and every day.
I have so many … very many fond memories of our time together … Tina still makes the very best fried chicken in the entire universe.
The subtle acknowledgement that John provided me during my character building development under his mentorship.
You cannot measuer your impact by the amount of money you accumulate but rather the lives that you have touched … I stand before all to say the person that had the biggest impact on how my life shaped is John … an I humbly attempt to pay it forward whenever i can.
I have failed by not staying in contact and for that i am sorry. But be well aware you are in my thoughts and actions daily.
Rest in peace John an blessings to the family. Through life i still detour often to walk by the farm … fond memories.

John welcomed us into his home and family warmly and openly. He loved to talk about religion and world events. He loved to share his knowledge and viewpoint but was never pushy.
We will miss his warm smile and open heart.

Marty Vink says
We are so sorry to hear of Oom Joop’s passing. He was a remarkable man and uncle! Spending time staying on ‘the farm’ during summer holidays when I was a young boy, he left such an impression on me. Every day seemed to be an adventure; Dennis and I riding in the back of the open truck (no seat belt laws back then), going to Holland Marsh to buy a huge load of deformed carrots for his cows, and going to a slaughter house where he rescued a ram, are just a few of the memories that still stand out to me 55 years later. Oom and Tante Tina were such a team on the farm. Hard work was always on and they just got on with it! A life well lived and Rest in Peace Oom Joop. Your nephew, Marty
Paul & Mary says
Our sincere condolences to the Vink family on the loss of your husband, father and grandfather.
Never will forget John & Tina taking on the job of milking our cows the afternoon Paul and I were married. At the wedding reception I remember John coming up to me and saying he hoped they did a good job. I said we knew the cows would be in good hands with such a fine couple.
Rest In Peace, John
