I remember Johnny when I was a child living in Beeton right near to where Kim H lived and everything that people have said about him was so true. He never felt sorry for himself and everyone loved him for his incredible sense of humour and his abilities regardless of having MD. My deepest sympathy to all of Johnnys family.

John was my best friend in public school. He taught me to look beyond our mortal bodies and to see the soul inside. Johnny’s soul was that of an astronaut, a rock star, an artist, a writer, and a humanitarian. My deepest sympathies to Glenda & the rest of John’s family.

Aunt Glenda, Barb, Brenda and Jim,
I loved what Corina posted… I share that exact memory of Johnny too! He was a happy, cheerful child who grew up to be a witty, determined, independent man. He fought and overcome all the odds his diagnosis served him. A life lived to its full potential…. Heartfelt sympathy and hugs to all.
Barbara Holding says
To all who have written about my little brother, thank you for your kindness. He was a special person who taught us much.
Corina, thank you, you made me laugh as I remember very well that picture of John playing the spoons – and I just spoke of it yesterday with my kids. John loved his music!

So very sorry to hear this news. Though Johnny and I fell out of touch many years ago, I have very fond memories of his laugh, sense of humour and warm disposition. He taught me a lot about acceptance and fairness growing up, and I know he will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends at this very sad time.

We are deeply saddened by John’s passing. He had such spirit and fought long and hard. His life was filled with everything he loved: music, words and fun. His family will mourn his passing for a long time. As his gr 6 teacher I could see that nothing was going to deter him from having a full life albeit a shortened one. Ride in the sunshine Johnny!

There are moments in life when we all feel sorry for ourselves. When something doesn’t go the way we planned, yet, I honestly cannot remember a moment in John’s life that I ever heard him complain, feel sorry for himself or express sympathy for his diagnosis of MD. No, not Johnny, he was always smart, happy and a humble human being. I am proud to say he was my cousin, and as kids we seemed to be together as a group ; Betty Anne, Anita, Elaine, Jim, John and myself hanging out in Beeton.
We often had Family get togethers surrounded by music and laughter with one fond memory in particular, when John was playing the spoons while Uncle Kent sang…..John adorning a huge cowboy hat with a brim far wider then what he could support and a smile just as large!!!
It is one of the many memories I will cherish of John. I hope this and many other memories will bring comfort to his family. He was an inspiration with his courage. Thanks Johnny!
