Jane Anne Crombie
May 26, 1947 – September 22, 2022
With heavy hearts we share the news of the passing of Jane Crombie on September 22, 2022 at Toronto General Hospital surrounded by her family.
Daughter of William and Margaret Foreman (deceased), Jane will be missed by her brothers William Foreman (Janice), Rob Foreman and John Foreman (Helen). Left to carry on her legacy and incredible strength are her three children, Jordan (Jodi), Andrea Griepsma (Michael) and Michael (Stephanie), and her grandchildren who were the light of her world – Ava, Colton, Mitchell and baby Crombie on the way! Family was everything to Jane and she leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews whom she adored.
A loving mother, devoted daughter, sister, career nurse, volunteer and friend, Jane cared deeply for all those around her. Jane transformed her passion for helping others into a career, graduating from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing on May 14, 1969. She started her career in nursing at The Hospital for Sick Children and went on to work at a number of Toronto hospitals.
After moving to Tottenham in 1984 as a place for her family to grow, Jane took a position as a Pharmacy Technician. This was followed by a return to school in 2000 to refresh her nursing skills, ultimately graduating with honors. This enabled Jane to take a nursing position within her beloved community, serving her neighbors and friends at the Simcoe Manor. Here she remained until 2012, where she retired as Nurse Manager, a position she cherished and considered a privilege.
Despite being born and raised in the city, Jane loved the small town of Tottenham. She spent her post retirement years tending to her large gardens at her house on The Boulevard and giving back to her community by volunteering her time at the Our Town Food Bank.
A very special thanks to Jane’s cousin, Shelley Murray whose support and friendship, especially over the last two years, will never ever be forgotten or cannot be repaid.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday September 27, 2022 from 4pm – 7pm at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, 1666 Tottenham Rd, Tottenham, ON 905-936-3477. A final goodbye to Jane will take place on Wednesday September 28 at 10:30am at St. James Church at 2118 Adjala-Tecumseth Townline, Colgan. Reception to follow at A Taste of Freedom 24 Mill Street West, Tottenham.
Donations in Jane’s memory can be made to the Our Town Food Bank or the Yonge Street Mission.

What a blessing your mother was to all that knew her and loved her. You were her pride and joy. Always picked up where we left off with your dear mother. Always a giggle and a joke whenever we crossed paths. Despite her circumstances she managed to lift your spirits and give a hug that reached your soul. A truly special woman to many and a tragic loss to our community. She will be missed. May she rest in God’s loving home and be reunited with all gone before us. Much love.
