To Mrs. Mitchell and Keagan,
I offer my deepest condolences and send prayers for God’s blessings for comfort, as you navigate this tremendous loss in your family.
In memory of your husband and father, I share these few words:
A Limb Has Fallen From Our Family Tree:
A limb has fallen from our family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me”.
Remember the good times, the laughter, the songs.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes when we’re together again.
I remember your father from our days at FX O’Reily school. He was always smiling and happy to lend a helping hand at many school functions. I also remember the time we attended the Rogers Centre together and his enthusiasm for the game and his ability to make others in his presence laugh. But most of all, I remember he made you feel welcome and at ease in his presence.
Keagan, cherish the many memories you have created together as a family, as they will help keep you and your mom close and connected to your father for always.
Sending blessings of peace and thoughts for swift healing,
Leighton

Dearest Jackie, Keagan, and all members of the Mitchell family, we are very saddened to learn of Ian’s passing, and would like to extend our deepest, most sincere sympathies on the loss of a ‘devoted’ husband, ‘loving’ father and the ‘best friend’ to both of you…Please know that many hearts are grieving with you as we remember Ian’s legacy to love, laugh and live life to the fullest.
“The tide recedes,
but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down,
but gentle warmth still lingers in the land.
The music stops,
and yet it echoes on in sweet refrains.
For every joy that passes,
something beautiful remains.”
Always remember, we never truly lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make, just as they did when they were living. Their love and guidance leaves a lingering ‘imprint’ in our memories forevermore…
We pray that your happy memories, your faith, and the love of your family and friends will comfort you during this great loss. Remember, life isn’t forever…LOVE is.
May Ian rest in blissful peace as he continues to watch over you all.
Sending healing prayers and caring thoughts for comfort in the days and months.

Tony, Jacqueline and Leighton

My deepest condolences to Jackie and the entire Mitchell family. I am so sorry for your loss.
I grew up with Ian and knew him before I remember much else really. I remember the excitement I felt running down the street, jumping over fences and hedges to play with Ian. We would play soccer on his parents front lawn on Birchcliff Ave. Often Andy would join in. As we got older, street-hockey, Rock’n’Roll became our thing. I’ll never forget him banging on his first drum kit… I’m surprised Dot let him continue. Like the drum beats he learned, Ian was consistent, steadfast and true. One you could count on; a foundation of character.
As most adult do, Ian and I grew apart… family, work, etc… but, we never lost a beat. Years could go by and then we would connect like we spoke yesterday.
‘I love you man! and, its not the beer talking!’
