McClean, Elizabeth Lynn
Passed away peacefully, on Sunday, January 25th, 2009, at Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Alliston. Liz was a loving and compassionate person who will be dearly missed by her husband Jamie, son Cole, parents Colman and Grace Borbas of St. Catherines and many friends and relatives.
A teacher and guidance counselor at Banting Memorial High School, she also taught at Bradford District High School. Prior to teaching, Liz was a Police Constable with the Peel Regional Police Force.
Liz enjoyed life to the fullest, even during her 8 year battle with brain cancer. Special thanks to Dr. Mason, the staff and the incredible volunteers at the Pencer Brain Tumor Centre at Princess Margaret Hospital for their great support.
The family will receive friends at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, 1666 Tottenham Road, Tottenham, 905-936-3477 on Friday, January 30th, 2009 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. James Church, Colgan, 11:15 am Saturday, January 31st, 2009. Interment of cremated remains will follow in St. James Cemetery, Colgan. Donations in Liz’s memory to the Gerry and Nancy Pencer Brain Tumor Centre or cancer research would be appreciated by the family.

Ms. McClean was the teacher who had the most profound impact on my life. I am currently an international human rights lawyer with a law degree from Harvard and I credit much of my success to encouragement and support that I got from her while I was in high school. I just found out now that she had passed away as I was looking to find her contact information to tell her these things. I am very sorry for your loss and wanted to share with you how much she had done for me, since I had not had a chance to properly let her know. I have no doubt that I am only one of the hundreds of students whose lives she touched so significantly.

Liz was on of my dearest friends.I will miss her so much. I will always remember our jogging sessions while she was at BDHS. We shared a lot on that track because whatever was said, remained on that track. How we loved to go to Starbucks for coffee. She always managed to whip that Starbucks coffee card before I even opened my purse. She was stubborn, and she was strong, but she was caring and she loved you guys more than anything else.
I am sorry that I will not be there for the service. I will be at a Starbucks in Nassau at 11:15 on Saturday, having a coffee, remembering Liz. Liz and I had a coffee there when she was here in October. I am so thankful that we had that time together.
She will be remembered and missed by so many people who loved her.
