Bowers: Alan Vincent,
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Alan on June 12, 2020, in his 79th year. His beloved wife of 55 years, Jean, was by his side in his final moments. Loving father to his son, Richard, his daughter, Joanne, son-in-law, Chuck and cherished Grandpa to his 2 grandsons, Matthew and Ben. Alan will be greatly missed by his close family, his extended family in England and his many friends near and far. He will be remembered as a Grandpa with unlimited energy, humour and enthusiasm for his Grandsons, who were his pride and joy, as a Dad whose love and warmth was limitless and as a husband whose love and devotion to his wife Jean was endless. Alan began and ended each day of his life the same way, with his lovely smile, feeling happy and content. His gentle demeanour and kindness will never be forgotten by those fortunate enough to have met him. Not a day will pass where we will not be thankful to have known such an extraordinarily wonderful man who will continue to live in our hearts forever.

A casual outdoor, backyard gathering will be held at the family home on Sunday, July 5th, 2020 from 3pm – 5pm in Tottenham. All are welcome. I am saddened to just find out and learn about Alan’s passing. Growing up with Richard from our childhood years, one thing was for sure… Alan treated me like family. He really was a gem. The kindest person, the father figure, always smiling and you just can’t say enough great things about a man who you knew loved his family so dearly, and treated everyone with the upmost respect. I was happy to do a business project and chose Alan’s company as the one I would research. I also used him to do my first A Board sign for my driveway sealing business. When you had something done by Alan you knew it was made by the most compassion and care possible. This is the same standards I use in my businesses today… It is because of Alan. He, his wife Jean and kids will be a part of me for life! Thank you for being a big part of my life, a big piece of my heart. I met Alan just 6 years ago when I joined the Newmarket TT club and he was one of the first players to greet me and he indicated he too lived in Tottenham. He was an extremely friendly and happy fellow and we hit it off immediately. From that point onwards, we shared a car ride (one week I drove, the following week he drove) to Newmarket to play TT. During those many hours in the car we discussed just about any topic – ranging from news of the day to our lives. During those trips he often spoke with pride about how well his grandchildren were doing in sports. On our trips back to Tottenham he would always send a quick message (more of a code) to Jean on his “old” flip phone to let her know that he was on his way home. If he forgot to do so, he would pull off the road to send the text message.
When I formed my own home base TT club, Alan was the first to say that he would show up on Sundays to play. Alan did not care if he won or lost. He just loved playing the game but his infectious smile would broaden when he made a winning shot. His love for table tennis also applied to his love of pickle ball. Alan introduced me to pickle ball and, as he predicted, I loved it. He was the kind of friend that you can always depend on to help when needed and when my car battery died (on several occasions), he was the first person I called. He was liked by everybody and I was happy and honoured to have had him as a friend.

Alan was a thoroughly loved brother to Barbara and an uncle to Lynne.
Whilst the sudden passing of Alan has been incredibly sad for the whole family, the one thing that has made it easier is the wonderful memories we all have.
When Alan and his family came to Manchester in 2017 and reunited with his brother and sister. As well as all of the holidays to Canada to spend time with him and the rest of the family. We will always remember these moments and the times we shared together.
