Benner: Allan Ralph,
Peacefully at Headwaters Health Care Centre Orangeville on Thursday February 10, 2022. Al Benner at the age of 75 years, beloved husband of Lynda Benner (nee: Towner). Loving father of Maryellen Benner, and Andrew Benner. Dearly loved grandfather of Nolan, Kacey, Alyvia, Ryan, Brianna, and the late Dustin. Sadly missed by his brothers Graeme, and Robert, and his nephew Michael and his niece Brahmi. Remembered with love by his furry companion Dickyns. Forever in the hearts of his extended family, his Bluegrass Family, and many friends. Allan was a devoted and loving husband, Dad and Grandpa. His many lessons in life for his family will always be remembered. His life legacy will hold his family in his loving arms. His grandchildren were his light; especially through music. It was always family first and Bluegrass to follow. Always and forever in our hearts.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Al’s Life will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations to Matthews House Hospice, Alliston would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home Tottenham. Online condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com

Lynda and family: Please accept our sincere condolences for you and the family. I was shocked when I called Monday morning and you informed me of Al’s passing. It took a few days to accept the loss of a great guy and family man. The grand kids were no.1 for Al. There was no question that next to family Al loved bluegrass music. Al was one of the driving forces that brought the Bluegrass Festival to Tottenham when the Lions took it on as a major project 35 years ago. If there was a bluegrass jam chances were pretty good that Al would be there.
George and Ruth Stamper.

Lynda and Family,
There is a dear friend of Als who I am certain was smiling to welcome him to Heavens jam session . Growing up in Tottenham I always knew Al, but was fortunate to know him a bit better through Dad and the love of music. The majority of the time I saw Al, he had an instrument strapped to the front of him, a smile on his face and music in his soul! A loss for our community and Bluegrass

Lynda, we just saw this news tonight and are devastated by it. We will be in touch by letter … hoping this message board will reach you and the kids. Maryellen, and Andrew, we have not met but I wanted to say that your Dad was the best colleague and friend possible. That he and your Mom were peanut butter & jam everyone knows, but he spoke of the two of you so often, so proudly and the grandchildren you brought into his life… to hear him tell the stories and share the pictures was just so special… and so was he. So heartbroken and sorry for the loss. Love, Craig & Susan.

Dear Lynda and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Al’s sudden passing. What a wonderful man with a wonderful partner, a wonderful family and most recently, a wonderful dog. I will cherish the memories of our talks when I walked Paul the dog and the later ones when you presented Elizabeth Dickens. I would see Al outside with Dickens and sometimes with the grandchildren. I would hear the music coming from the house when on my walks. What a full life and a reminder to all to live what you love.

Lynda and family: I called him “Uncle Al.” He was a true friend to me, and it helped that he spoke his mind … and there were two things he nagged me about: jumping another person’s song if I thought they were too slow or had the tune wrong, and not getting my flu shot! There have been so few people with whom I felt comfortable and trusted, and Al was one of them. He was the moral force behind our successful concerts in support of The Stephen Lewis Foundation, and over the course of five years he helped raise over $10,000 for that organization! Besides that, he was just … there. A very present and good man. He will be missed.

Lynda, was so sorry to hear of AL’s passing. I have fond memories from years ago of little black dog next door chasing his car. He would get so upset. He will be remembered for his smile and spirit. Always a hearty laugh and “Nice to see you” when we’d meet at walmart etc. He leaves a wonderful legacy in the grandkids. A nice, nice man.
Hugs to you Maryellen and Andrew.
