Eveson: Abigail “Abby” Grace,
Surrounded by the love of her family on Wednesday October 24, 2018, at Southlake Regional Health Centre Newmarket, after a courageous battle with a congenital heart defect. Abby Eveson at the age of 5 years, beloved daughter of Craig and Rebecca Eveson. Loving sister of Charlie and Jack. Dearly loved granddaughter of Greg and Donna Eveson, Brian (Josie) Grubbe and Diane Reesor (Wayne Jolly). Sadly missed by her aunts and uncles: Katie Grubbe (Robert Cocozza), and Michelle Martins (Marco), and cousins: Clara and Victoria. Forever in the hearts of Joe and Becky Manzo and their children Lily and Olivia, and all of Abby’s extended family and many friends.
Abby was not your ordinary 5 year old. She spent her life battling a rare, complex congenital heart defect. She proved that she was strong right from the start and defied the odds, always with a smile on her face. She gave hope to so many people and inspired people to fight through their own battles. “If Abby can do it, I can do it” was a very common message shared with the family. The families approach to Abby’s conditions and set backs alongside Abby’s charismatic personality made her loved by so many.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and staff at Sick Kids Hospital and Southlake Regional Health centre for all of the care and support over the last 5 years. A big thank you to all the staff that fell in love with Abby while helping her to develop and grow. A special thank you to all of her supporters who stood by and loved our Abby Girl with us.
A Celebration of Abby’s Life will be held at the Trisan Centre, 25 Dillane Drive, Schomberg, L0G 1T0, on Thursday November 1st, 2018 at 2:00 pm, with a Memorial service beginning at 3pm. Everyone is encouraged to wear Abby’s favorite colours, either pink or purple and a We Believe in Abby T shirt if you have one. After the Memorial service the ice surface will be available for public skating from 3:30 pm until 6:50 pm, and a visitation period will be held until 8:00pm where the family invites you to join them in the common areas at the Trisan Centre for a time of fellowship and refreshment.
In memory of Abby to help keep her legacy alive of spreading smiles, love, hope and giving back. The Evesons hope to create an accessible memorial park with a pavilion to help create a space for special events and fundraisers that will inspire young and old to give back to charity’s close to their hearts. Donations can be made through www.webelieveinabby.ca would be appreciated by the family.

I am so sorry to hear of Abby’s death. She was such a ray of sunshine, even when she was not well. Her beautiful smile and cheerfulness when I cared for her will never be forgotten. Her family is in my thoughts as they grieve her loss.

Adam Urbach (Schomberg P.S.) says
Abby’s smile would put me and my Gr. 5/6 class at ease instantly when we had reading buddies for the first few times. She would make our visits to the JK/SK’s a great experience full of fun and wonder for the rest of the time we got to be there. Her energy was contagious to those students who got the chance to be her reading buddy. My students would argue about who would get to work with her because they all had so much fun reading and creating with her. All of us will miss her endless joy and happiness that she brought with her to school. Our heartfelt and deepest condolences to the the family and friends of such a wonderful child.

I have been following Abby on Facebook for a long time. I never met her or her parents or her family, but like someone said, I felt like I knew all of you. Thank you Abby for showing us how to be strong and to fight with every little strength that you have. You left because your body was too week to fight, because I feel that if it was up to you, you’d be here forever showing us how it’s done. RIP little angel.
