I only learned belatedly of Bob’s death. Bob was a teacher as well as a kind and thoughtful person. He taught me much of what I know about trees with his impressive knowledge behind the teaching. His visits to our home to help with tree maintenance were always an enjoyable time. Bob will be missed.

We saw Bob every year…he would check our trees and tell us what needed pruning. He was one person whose advice we trusted. He was a kind and caring man…always polite and respectful. RIP Bob.

My wife and I were shocked to hear of Bob’s passing. He was a colourful character, a great guy…hardworking, courteous, who wholeheartedly gave his customers what he promised to deliver. We will truly miss him.

Bob will be missed by us all here at Solty Garden Centre.

I am saddened to hear about Bob’s passing. I remember taking Jack (Jevons) to see Bob to collect leaves for a school project that he and Jonathan had. He was so kind to Jack and gave him a wonderful book about native Canadian trees. It still lives on our bookshelf. Also the wonderful skating area created through the trees. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with all of you.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Bob’s passing, he was the only person I trusted to take care of my trees, it was not only his business but one of his loves.
He often paid visits to Ed and shared conversations about many of his assorted interests, Ed always learned something new!
We will both miss him.

Thank you Bob for all your kindness, as you were such a Gentle Giant. The evergreens you gave me to decorate for Christmas were always the best and smelled and lasted the longest. You taught me about each tree that you pruned and always had some nice stories to tell. We will all miss you and your genuine kindness. xox

Bob was our neighbour and was very kind to us. Always a cheery hello through the tree line. I always enjoyed his explanations of what shrubs and trees were in my yard and his complete with latin names!
He always seemed to be busy so our talks weren’t long but memorable. We shared similar views being close in age. A kind gentle man unfazed by our old dogs barking at him and they grew to trust him due to his affable nature. He truly will be very much missed. I imagine he had that effect on many people. Sincerest Condolences to
his family. Wendy and Lorne Fortin
