Nicky, I was saddened to hear about Gerry’s passing. I STILL remember things he taught me about grooming and sitting trot when he trained my crazy Arab gelding years ago. He was a great teacher. He was so well respected, and really had a huge impact on so many people over the years. He will be missed.

Gerry will be sorely missed. He was a wonderful teacher, mentor and friend in the carriage driving world. When he came out to Calgary to do clinics, he stayed with us and was an endless source of knowledge and an entertaining house guest – we loved hosting him. I still put in to practice what I learned from Gerry – his legacy will live on in the driving community in Canada. Our sympathy to Nicky and family.

Gerry was a good friend and teacher. Certainly a generous man who shared his wisdom and love of horses. He will be sorely missed. God, he loved to live and tell stories. Some were even true! He was a good friend of Henry Carr Farm and our Canadian Horses. Thanks Gerry for the man and gift you were to so many. Prayers for Nicky and the rest of his family.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Gerry’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Nicky and the McCallum Family. We were blessed with his great friendship for so many years. We will always cherish the wonderful memories of showing together and the sometimes long, heightened, philosophical discussions on turnout and appointments. Gerry was not only a wonderful horseman, but he was always so very generous in sharing his wisdom and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. His kind words and contagious smile encouraged so many to do their best. Rest in peace dear friend.

Gerry was smart, funny, caring and sure, and one heck of a gum popper!!
To his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, please know, Gerry left a lasting impression on me, and I will do my best to utilize the skills he passed on to me, both in dealing with horses and in life.
Nicki, my heart hurts for you. You were so lucky to have found your perfect partner. You both worked so well together, and you are the only person who was able to put Gerry in his place! He loves you so much, I am so sorry!
Xox, Krissy

How comforting to know that Gerry gently passed away in his home and surrounded by love. A mentor to many, a loss to horse world, but oh the legacy he has left behind! He has inspired a generation that can only hope to be half the horseman he was, who so generously shared his wisdom.
