To Muriel’s family, we are so sorry for your loss. We miss our dear friend so much, but especially those Thursday afternoons not just making the milk bag mats, but sharing special times to chat and laugh together. Muriel’s calm and practical strength during these last two difficult years was an inspiration to us, and we treasure those memories. May you find comfort that she is now at peace.

I am shocked and saddened at the death of my fellow Sister in Christ, and my friend.
What a lovely kind, considerate lady Muriel was and so dedicated to her church and all her family and friends. She deserves her heavenly reward and the reunion with many of her church family and earthly family. May the Lord Bless her and keep her, and may she rest in peace. Sending hugs and love to Michael and Lisa and all those who mourn her loss.

I am saddened to learn of the passing of Muriel Jackson. She and I worked together at Banting Memorial High School for many years and shared a few students over that time. When you go through the front door of the school and past the main office, the first classroom on the right was Muriel’s family studies room. The room was bright, having west-facing windows. Typically, Muriel was either engaging with students or preparing to do so. Being the first teacher you were likely to encounter as you entered the school, Muriel seemed to represent us all…..a sort of unofficial ambassador for the entire institution. Her presence with her students indicated this is who we are and this is what we want to achieve. Her students recognized her kindness and commitment. I don’t think anyone ever gave her a hard time……She was one of the best………My condolences to her Family, friends and coworkers
Jim Boyd, Retired from Banting Memorial says
I just found out that Muriel has passed away. She was a rock at Banting Memorial for so many people, staff and students alike. She had her work cut out keeping me afloat, and she was a kind and caring friend to me and my family. Not once did Muriel ever say an unkind thing about anyone; she radiated warmth and calm. I feel lucky to have worked and socialized with her.
This will be a tough loss for the family as her first focus was always to love and nurture them. I wish there were more people in the world like Muriel. Everywhere she went, the world got a lot brighter.

To all of Muriel’s family, her children and grandchildren who are my first cousins once and twice removed, I want to extend my sincere condolences. Muriel was such a great lady, whose hospitality and kindness enveloped all who knew her. I was honoured to have seen David and Muriel a number of times over the years, and to have been able to escort them “around the Bay” in 2019 when my son Alan and granddaughter Kelsea were in Newfoundland at the same time. We went to Carbonear and saw the house where Dorothy and my mother grew up, and where David had stayed several days around 70 years before with our grandparents we knew as Nanny and Gramp. We visited the cemetery where our first Cameron ancestor rests for eternity, Hugh Cameron came to Carbonear in 1873 when he was 16. He later married Emma Guy and had quite a large family, and of course my mother, Mary and David’s mother Dorothy were two of their many grandchildren. On our little trip we saw numerous beauty spots and historic sites and had a magnificent seafood dinner in Brigus. It turned out to be the last time I saw them both, and we had a lot of fun exchanging family stories and talking with great pride about our respective children and grandchildren who have all given us much to be proud about. You had wonderful loving parents whose memory will stay with you forever. As per the wonderful Cape Breton song, “we rise again in the faces of our children, we rise again in the voices of their song. We rise again like the waves out in the ocean, and then we rise again.” It’s a beautiful song worth checking out on YouTube by the Rankins amongst others. For me it reflects the love that is passed through the generations, and we are all beneficiaries of that love from ancestors who should not be forgotten. David and Muriel left memories galore and an honourable legacy you can all beneficiaries proud of. Again my deep condolences to all of you, and I invite any and all of you to visit me, and my wife Sandra, if you ever come down our way, at St Mary’s which is not far from Stratford. We’d be glad to see you with family in tow, and who knows some of my family might be here at the same time. I have 4 children and 7 grandchildren who are mostly of university age now. Best wishes

Theresa and I were shocked to hear of Muriel’s death. What a wonderful person. Muriel was a real asset to our staff . She was a most effective and compassionate teacher. The students loved and respected her. On staff she was considered a cheerleader with her up beat personality and great humour. Whether you met her in the classroom , in the corridor or the staff room, you were greeted with that wholesome bright smile and a cheery comment. Yes, she made a difference in a most positive way. We are sure she will be dearly missed by family and her many friends.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
With respect.——. Larry Keogh. BMHS

I have fond memories of stopping at her parents house on the way to Sherbrooke and enjoying family get togethers in Quebec as well as ones in Ontario. To Muriel’s Family and Friends I offer my most heartfelt sympathy on your loss. Muriel was a breath of friendly fresh air and welcomed you with her enthusiastic smile, kindness and her amazing laugh.
An avid nature lover, she loved her walks with the ladies and always loved to assist in St. James’ kitchen wirh a tray of freshly baked goodies or homemade chocolates. She made plastic mats out of milk bags and volunteered her time with my charity Angel Care when she could fit it in.
She cherished David and it was evident when she shared their trip adventures. She became the welcome ambassador at Chartwell and loved the events there. As the youngest member of the church ladies lunch club; she saw to my ‘senior training’. She was an Angel on earth and will be dearly missed by all of us both at Chartwell and St. James Anglican Church. It was an honour to have known both Muriel and David. May they both rest in peace.

Please accept my most heartfelt sympathy for the loss. My thoughts are with all her family at this most difficult time.
