Marie Jeanne Maureen Di Cuia passed away peacefully at Matthews House Hospice in Alliston on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the age of 73. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Manny, her daughter Rita (Tony), and her son Vince (Joyce). Maureen was a devoted grandmother to her cherished grandchildren, Anthony and Lia. She was predeceased by her parents, Lila and Duncan Furlong. She is also survived by her sisters, Denise (late Leo) and Phyllis (Dennis), and her brothers, Donny (Kathy) and Phil, also known as Pitou (Julie). Maureen leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, cousins, and a large circle of dear friends. Her family kindly asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others throughout her life, rather than the sadness of her passing. Maureen’s final moments were spent surrounded by family, in peace. She was a loyal, kind, fair, and loving person who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Matthews House for their compassionate care and support for both Maureen and her loved ones. In lieu of flowers, they encourage donations to Matthews House Hospice in her memory. Arrangements are entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home Tottenham. Memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com.
Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
