“Oh I have slipped the surly bonds of earth…
..Put out my hand and…
Touched the face of God.”
JONES: Frederick William “Bill”
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Frederick William (Sir William, Bill, Dad, Grandad, G.G Bill, and even Mr. Bill) announce his passing on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Headwaters Hospital, Orangeville at the age of 92. He died peacefully after a courageous battle with complications from dementia, surrounded by his loving family.
He will be remembered as a gentle, quiet old soul, who cherished wonderful times with family and friends. He was happiest like any true BRIT; safely ensconced in his wing back chair, fireplace blazing with a good book and a glass of scotch or a cup of tea in his hand. He loved the peace and contentment of his own home- his castle. He is survived by his loving wife Beverley and three sons Steven, Gregory and Christopher whom he shared with his late wife Joan Lilian Pearson. He is also survived by his daughters-in-laws Marilyn, Anne and the late Shelly.
Special “Okie Dokie” Grandad to Katelyn (Scott), Emily (Elliott), Alec (Dalveer), Hannah and Jessica who all loved him dearly. His legacy as he called it is completed with 5 great-grandchildren Isadore, George, Henry, Mable and Ramona. Bill shared 30 happy years with Joan. Bev and he just celebrated their 35th anniversary on November 12, 2023.
Bev’s family and Bill’s wish to extend special Thanks to those special people (You all know who you are) who have been so very good and kind to us both over the past 17 years, particularly our Rector and friend, the Rev’d Canon Darrell Wright.
(Bill is also fondly remembered by family in the U.K). As per Bill’s wishes cremation has taken place and a Graveside service will take place at a later date. Please check back to the funeral home website as details become available. For those who wish, donations to the Alliston Food Bank would be appreciated – Please think of the less fortunate. (Matt.25:37-40.)
Condolences and memories may be left for Bill’s family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com.
