With profound sadness we announce the passing of Cyril Menchenton, in his 82nd year, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at the Matthews House Hospice surrounded by his family on December 11, 2023. Cyril was born October 2, 1942 to Charles and Winnifred Menchenton (nee Whitt). He was raised in Norris Arm North, NL and moved to Ontario in 1965 and settled in Tottenham, ON in 1974. He will be greatly missed by his wife Myrt of 58 years, his children Chris, Grant and Tracey (Steve) and his grandchildren Justin, Jenna, Brooke and Lea and his daughter-in-law Terry. He also leaves behind his siblings Roy (Jean) NL, Eric (Norma) NL, Betty NL, Reg (Mary) ON, Janet (Brian) NL, Carl (Pat) AB, and Wilson ON. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends.
We are thankful for the excellent care he received at Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Southlake Hospital, Matthews House Hospice and home care support by St. Elizabeth Healthcare. At Cyril’s request he will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will take place at the Tottenham Legion, 25 Richmond Street East, Tottenham ON L0G1W0, where he was a longtime member, on Sunday April 28, 2024 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
