Andrew
I truly believe God puts each and every one of us here on earth for a purpose. God gave us Andrew for a reason. My parents were given a son – a son who would all his life need extra love and care. My parents accepted that challenge. Through God my parents were given the strength to do that. My brother gave this family strength and taught us that there is hope on earth, love, patience, happiness, kindness, generousity, and the importance of family. That is who my brother was. My brother taught us to accept who we are and be proud of who we are.
Andrew was a beautiful son, brother, grandson, uncle, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, and friend. Everyone who met him was drawn to his gentle heart and warm smile. Andrew my brother was very kind and very well mannered. My parents taught him well. He loved people. He was the most happiest when we would be around our family and friends.
My brother was strong – very strong. He had many health issues which he overcame in his lifetime and his strong heart gave the hope for him to overcome those obstacles. But I never saw him cry because he was in pain. That is how strong he was. I only saw tears when friends and family who were visiting would have to go home or when it was time for Andrew to leave a party. That is how much he loved being with those he loved.
Andrew was a wonderful brother to me and my sister. Sometimes we wished he could take care of our battles, but he always looked out for us. When my sister and I got our driver’s licence, before he went to bed he made us give him our car keys so that we would not go out anywhere without him. He would sleep holding those keys. This was only because loved when we took him out for rides in the car.
As an uncle, Andrew was the best with the children. He loved them dearly. They would watch television together, lie in bed together, colour, play blocks, and ride their bikes. The children always called him Uncle Andrew. He loved to boss them around and always saw if they were up to no good and put them in their place. They always looked forward to Andrew giving them a sweet treat and he was very generous with them. The children made him happy.
Now I would like to speak on behalf of my brother Andrew. If he could speak I know he would like to have all you know how much he loved all of you here today. Thank you for being here.
A special thank you to Sue Wilton- Andrew loved you. You were there for him whenever he needed you. He would be so happy he would not sleep all night if he knew you were coming over to take him out for the day. Thank you dearly from the bottom of our hearts for taking care of Andrew. Thank you for helping my parents with Andrew and for being such a special person in Andrews life. You will never be forgotten.
As for my mother and father and Babcia, thank you for taking care of Andrew all his life. He had a wonderful life and that is because you were able to give him that life because of your love and strength. Your strength made it possible for him to live a life of no regrets. But one knew him better than my mom and Andrew knew that. He would always say to her “my mommy”. And mom, you will always forever be his mommy. Thank you for being the best parents and the best babcia and could ever have.
We love you Andrew and we always miss you. Thank you for being my brother.
